Rahul Rajiv Gandhi born 19 June 1970 is an Indian politician and a member of the Indian Parliament, who represents the constituency of Wayanad, Kerala in the Lok Sabha. He previously represented the constituency of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and was the party president from December 2017 to July 2019.

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was orchestrating the movement by encouraging the party cadre and the public to walk from Kanyakumari at the southern tip of India to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a journey of 4,080 kilometres over almost 150 days.

Shashi Tharoor born 9 March 1956 is a politician and public intellectual who has been serving as Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, since 2009.

During the Congress-led UPA government, Tharoor served as Minister of State for External Affairs. He is currently a member of the Congress Working Committee, which is highest decision making body of the Indian National Congress.

From 1978 to 2007, Tharoor was a career official at the United Nations, rising to the rank of Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information in 2001.

Salman Khurshid Alam Khan born 1 January 1953 is an Indian politician, designated senior advocate, eminent author and a law teacher. He was the Cabinet Minister of the Ministry of External Affairs. He belongs to the Indian National Congress.

He is a lawyer, and a writer who has been elected from Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency in the General Election of 2009.

He is the son of Khurshed Alam Khan, a former Union Minister of External affairs, Government of India, and maternal grandson of Zakir Husain, the third President of India.

He is Ex-General Secretary of the Indian National Congress party’s All India Congress Committee. Previously, he had served as the 14th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a central Indian state, for two terms from 1993 to 2003.

Manmohan Singh born 26 September 1932 is an Indian retired politician, economist, academician and bureaucrat who served as the 13th Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014.

A member of the Indian National Congress, Singh was the first Sikh prime minister of India. He was also the first prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be re-elected after completing a full five-year term. He is the third longest-serving prime minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

In praise of Singh’s work that pushed India towards a market economy, long-time Cabinet minister P. Chidambaram has compared Singh’s role in India’s reforms to Deng Xiaoping’s in China.

During the 1970s and 1980s, Singh held several key posts in the Government of India, such as Chief Economic Advisor (1972–1976), governor of the Reserve Bank (1982–1985) and head of the Planning Commission (1985–1987).
